Making money from your website isn’t a hoax. It is achievable when you are doing it right.
As a matter of fact, you could turn a part-time blog or website into an income-generating machine. But, you might need to work harder.
There are so many articles about ‘How to make money online’ but these 5 ways to monetize a website that I have put together is far more effective and work best for most websites.
I am going to walk you through these different strategies and tell you the ‘How’.
Bear in mind that these strategies can be easy for some while a few needs a little more patience and on-going hard work.
1. Affiliate Link or Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is magic money kept coming in when you are not doing anything. At least that is what a quick Google search would make you believe.
Don’t be fooled, it is a little trickier to do than say.
I have broken down into 3 steps to explain Affiliate marketing and how you can get started with it.
- Recommending a product or service of your choice to your followers.
- Your audiences purchase the product or service using your customised affiliate link.
- You then get paid a commission for the sales made using your customised affiliate link.
Affiliate marketing is said to be one of the easiest to make money with your website, that is if you are committed long-term.
Also make sure you give value on your recommendation, like giving a review, list out the pros and cons, or make a detailed comparison.
2. Digital Products
One of my personal favorite way to monetize a website is selling something you create. For example, video courses and informative PDF document (e-book).
Firstly, you will have to find out what your audiences like or what do they want to know more about.
Then, you create a product around that and sell it! And if someone buys it, all the profits are yours.
Unlike Amazon or any other e-Commerce sites, which you are bound to pay 30% in commission. You take everything home here.
Though there might need a little more work, creating different videos, editing them or writing different articles or courses for people to be interested to purchase and learn.
My advice? Always start simple – by creating a $5 e-book. When you have got the right audiences, enough experience and skills, that is when you can package it into something people would pay for.
3. Upgrade for Premium Content
This is one of the more popular ways to monetize a website. The idea is fairly simple, people come to your website because they are interested with what you offer. And when they love it, it is normal that they want more.
Just like a gym membership, that requires monthly or weekly fees. So, you offer greater content, for a price.
Of course, you can’t just expect someone to pay to continue reading on your first or second post.
Thus, you must first know what you are going to offer and whether there are loyal audiences that are willing to support your website.
Generally, people upgrade to premium or join memberships because they find it simplify their lives, helps productivity or gaining a new skill and knowledge etc.
To take note, always make sure your content is up-to-date and provides value so that your loyal audiences be increasing daily.
4. Offer Live Training
Ever heard of online consultations or online seminars? Well, it is real and very cost-saving.
Hiring a space for training or seminar would be too costly and booking a specific date for a space would be a hassle too.
Through your website, you could do online workshops, live training or seminar (we call it webinar).
Having online workshops or seminars means your audiences are able to learn directly from you and implement what they’ve learned with you.
People are more willing to pay high prices just to attend online seminars, rather than getting dressed up and drive all the way to the venue.
5. Roll your Websites
Did you know, you could sell your website and earn a quick big buck? But, it will take some time to be able to do that.
First of all, you will have to build a good amount of following, got lot of data, and already sold some products on your website.
This Create-Sell-Reinvest strategy is not for everyone, especially those that prefer creating something big in the long term.
There are far more ways to monetize a website and you will be asking which way to use? It will depend on a few things:
- The purpose of your website
- The way you want to display your content
- How is your daily, weekly and monthly traffic
These ways are absolutely doable, but if you really want to earn the big bucks, you have got to hustle to increase more traffic to your website.
Don’t just focus on the money, focus on how you can engage and make the audiences stay because that will benefit you in the long run.
