To celebrate International Women Day 2021, the founder of Beautine, Maggie Teoh has some words to share about the theme: #choosetochallenge.
Maggie started her career by balancing between being a mother and a working woman. She defines her daily challenge as improving herself to be better than yesterday.
“Women in olden days would sacrifice their dreams. They will choose to live for their husband, children, family, and so do I. Until today, my children have grown up to become teenagers, I finally have some time to move forward to the thing that I always want to do.
We launched Beautine during the Pandemic period last year, and this is a brand new product that we rarely see in Malaysia, plus this is the first time as a decision-maker in the company. All my #choosetochallenge come in all at a time, so I have to review myself from time to time to make sure that I’m on the right track,” she said.
Speaking of overcoming her previous challenges, she shares about her self-doubt during the beginning of Beautine.
“During that time, I hesitated whether my choice was right or wrong, but in fact, there was no answer, because only you have the answer to the question. I’m glad that I am still able to make it until today with the full support of my husband” she added.
Teoh hopes all the women can learn to believe in themselves in whatever they do. So she moves forward with planning ahead of the Beautine’s upcoming #choosetochallenge areas.
“We strive to educate the public on how important hygiene is during our skin care ritual. Hence, making hygiene accessible, convenient and affordable to everyone. For eg, by Beautine’s very own Eco-friendly and chemical free facial towels.
It is not a luxury product, it could be our new necessity in the future that helps to improve our lifestyle, just like we learned to have the habit of using a handkerchief to tissue previously.
Hence, for us, it will be a very big step and requires a lot of branding and marketing effort to bring out the purpose of our product and brand.
Teoh stated, she never had any worst experience of inequity but shares the last inspirational quotes to draw an end to the interview.
“Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.”
