A lot of people are looking forward into 2015, a brand new year with new targets, new objectives.

With the recent Google Penguin 3.0 update, the SEO world is facing some changes again and we can expect even more updates and changes in 2015.

After each update, we can see some websites get hit hard and suffer a big drop in ranking, while some benefited from the updates instead.

Whether or not you are starting a new business website in 2015, or hope to maintain or increase your ranking in search engine, we have some SEO tips in 2015 for you to make sure you stay right on track.

1. Content will always be the KING

Content is the king, this fact never changes. Original, quality and lengthy content will always be in the favour of Google as they contribute real world value to most people.

Make sure you keep your website and blog constantly updated with fresh and quality content.

What if your business website is just plainly talking about your products offering and you have nothing else to contribute to those existing pages? Create a blog!

A blog will always contribute good SEO value to your website as you can stuff a lot of content in it. Share tips, behind the scene or basically anything that your readers want to see on your blog then you are all good.

2. Mobile website and responsive design

Mobile is a big hit in 2014 and will only continue to become more dominant in 2015. Optimize your website with mobile friendly view or use a responsive design template will make sure you reach those mobile users in a positive way.

If your website is always reachable, usable and visible in any devices, it should be favoured by Google as compared to those who don’t.

On top of that, mobile searches are on the rise. There are still a lot of businesses which ignore the mobile presence, so you can still leverage this benefit if you get it done as quick as possible.

3. Practice links diversify

Getting a lot of inbound links are still one of the major factors to rank your website in search engines. However, Google is changing their algorithm to pick up on those who are abusing this. Making a lot of keywords anchor link doesn’t work as great as before, it might get your penalized instead.

Diversify your anchor text. If your target keyword is “bread maker in Malaysia”, don’t just create links under that anchor. Diversify it, you can also mix it with your URL, your brand name and some natural terms like “bread maker Malaysia”, “Malaysia bread maker”, “click here”, “www.yourwebsite.com”, “visit us” etc.

Additionally, don’t create tons of links at only a few websites. Spread it out to many websites and keep it around 1-3 links on each site.

Diversity makes your links look natural and less prone of getting penalized.

4. Speed up or get left behind

Your website’s loading speed will be even more important now. Optimize your website properly and make sure it loads fast. If your competitors’ websites load within 5 seconds and yours in 15 seconds, you are definitely losing out a lot of customers to your competitors.

This doesn’t mean you should forfeit all the aesthetic elements in your website, striking a balance between your design and speed is the key.

5. Be more social

Social networks are taking over real quick. Social impact and social influence are two major factors that contribute to user’s purchase decision now. Make sure you have a good and solid presence in social network such as Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus and keep it that way.

They are not your main priority to gain business leads, but they should not be forfeited as they will contribute SEO values to your business website.

6. Be consistent

If you are building links daily, make sure you keep at it. If at any point of time you get lazy to do these things, always outsource it to someone else to continue the link building efforts. When your link building is inconsistent, let say you build 500 links in January, but only 10 links in February, this looks very unnatural to Google and you are at risk of getting penalized.

Be consistent in all your content update, blogging, social update and link building efforts. You can definitely see an improvement.

All the best in 2015!
