I got to say, it’s not easy to maintain high productivity towards the whole day, not to mention towards the end of the month like what your boss expects you to.
If you ever wonder how some people can remain energetic and enthusiastic during their whole working hours, read on.
I’m sharing some tips with you from my personal routine and experience, so try and see which one will work for you.
Tip #1 – The Snooze
Don’t snooze your alarm, NEVER. If you set your alarm to wake you up at 6AM, then get up at 6AM. Put your alarm far away from your bed, somewhere you can’t reach without getting out from your lazy bed. Make sure it’s loud, vibrating and will annoy the hell out of you if you don’t switch it off.
Research has shown that the extra 5 minutes or more you get from your snooze actually get you less restful. Snoozing also disrupts your sleep more than giving you more sleeping time. So get to bed earlier!
Tips #2 – The Shower
Most people take hot shower in the morning, because it makes you feel calm and relax. Interesting fact, you shouldn’t take a hot shower in the morning but try to take a cold shower instead.
Why? It’s because cold shower gives some benefits that are essential to kick start your productive morning. It can increase your alertness, ‘wake up’ your muscles, ease up your stress, relieve depression and as a bonus for the female (not excluding male), stimulate weight loss!
Though a cold shower in the morning can be uneasy for some people, try to get use to it as it gets your body ready for the day.
Tip #3 – The Coffee
It’s not a myth that the caffeine in coffee can help to revitalize and energize you in the early morning. Consuming coffee in the morning is quite a routine for some people, but some don’t do it at all due to the fact that they might be allergic to caffeine.
I’m one of the people who are allergic to caffeine, but as long as it’s not too much then it’s okay. If you are buying a cup of coffee from a coffee shop, try request for another cup and pour half of the coffee into it. Add hot water to both cups so you can get it diluted.
Take another coffee if you want in the afternoon before 2PM. Don’t drink after 3PM as it might cause you to lose your sleep at night. If you are not feeling extremely sleepy, try skip the afternoon coffee as consuming too much caffeine is not good for your health either.
Tip #4 – The Schedule
Sometimes you have a lot to do, sometimes you got nothing to do. To avoid tasks overdue or having unproductive moment of doing nothing, schedule your task on your calendar and timetable.
Set your priority right. If you are working on an important task, turn off your email and IM notifications to prevent yourself from being distracted. Do one thing at a time if you are not a great multi-tasker.
Structure your time the right way so that you have enough time for each task.
Tip #5 – The Technology
The advancement of technology has made our life so much easier. Leverage on technology to cut down the time you need to complete each task.
For instance, use Hootsuite to manage all your social accounts in one window. Use Dropbox to share files and collaborate with co-workers and partners. Utilize Trello for tasks allocation among your team. Outsource design works to designers.
